Immortality
In the distance there is laughter
where the ocean meets the sky,
but the mist that brings this mourning
hides the gates of paradise.
Today dreams were broken,
and today families cried,
and today no words were spoken
when the season’s spirit died.
So now that you’re gone
take this from me;
the only thing I can give you
is this little bit of immortality.
Far away men are cheering
in the midest of the night,
but not even a prayer can light a spark to start this fire.
Today a prayer was wasted,
and today a father cried.
Today no words were spoken
when a mother lost her child.
