Johnny Got Schooled

Johnny Got Schooled

Johnny goes to school and they tell him what to think,
they tell him what to do and they tell him what to drink.
They tell him how to act and they tell him what to smoke
and they send him along, down the road.
They send him along, down the road.

Johnny goes home and he opens up his books,
doesn’t know they’re all wrong so he gives ‘em a look,
believes what he reads and he reads what he’s told
and he’s told to read the lies the school’s been sold.
He’s told to read the lies the school’s been sold.

Well, teachers just tell you what they’ve been taught.
The government wrote the textbooks you bought,
they filter every word that you read
and then they count on you to believe.
Then they count on you to believe.

Well, Johnny don’t know ‘cause he’s an innocent child,
but they brainwash him and send him into the wild.
They say there’s no answer but A, B, C, or D
and that if you believe them all you can mark E.
If you believe them all mark E.

They make all the kids walk in a straight line,
and they yell at you if you’re not in single-file.
They tell you, “boy, you’ll listen here!”
And they say that it’s truth, when they’re selling you fear.
They say that it’s truth, when they’re selling you fear.

I can tell you ‘bout schools—I’ve been there myself
and it’s a miracle that I’m doing this well.
They tell you some things they think you should know
and then they tell you you’re free to go.
Then they tell you you’re free to go.

Well they taught me ‘bout this and they taught me ‘bout that.
I could see through it then like I can looking back.
We learned about capitalism and we learned about war
and I’m still wondering what either one is for.
I’m still wondering what either one is for.

Education, smeductaion, feducation, FUCK!
If they lead you on then you’re out of luck.
If you stand in line when they tell you it’s right
you’ll be standing in line for the rest of your life.
You’ll be standing in line for the rest of your life.
